We Socialize!

When you square dance you dance with seven partners. Square dancing is an inherently social art, and our friendships don’t end when the music stops. We enjoy many non-dancing activities together.

We attend plays and concerts such as a Pacific Symphony concert at Chapman University, the U.  S.  Air Force band in Santa Ana, and the Hard Day’s Night Beatles Tribute at Orange Hart Park Bandshell. We attend plays at local community and college theaters, such as The Beat Goes On at the Vanguard University Lyceum theater. There is so much talent in Orange County!

We’ve car-pooled to the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, which has an amazing collection of cars (from the beginning of driving to the day before yesterday), mechanical musical instruments, furniture, fine arts … even a steam locomotive.

Of course, what is more social than sharing a meal? We have a monthly Thursday morning brunch at the Waterfront Café in Garden Grove, where we are joined by friends from other clubs and club members who no longer dance.

We gather for club parties such as our annual al fresco dice game party to end the summer with a bang, and our President’s annual Christmas party, which may feature anything from holiday costumes to gift exchanges to the excitement of Left Right Center (visit us and we’ll teach you how to play if you don’t know Left Right Center).

Another favorite is the annual fish fry at La Purisima church in Orange (rated one of the best in O C). And we occasionally gather to have dinner together before a dance.
